Tonight’s NFC Divisional Round heads to Seattle as the No. 6 49ers visit the No. 1 Seahawks at Lumen Field (8:00 p.m. ET).  Sportsbooks have Seattle favored by a touchdown (49ers +7) with total around 44.5. 

These NFC West rivals have played twice, and both games were grinders. San Francisco opened the year with a 17–13 win in Seattle, while the Seahawks answered with a 13–3 win at Levi’s Stadium in Week 18 to secure the top seed.  That’s 30 and 16 total points (23 points per game combined). With a lower total, every possession is magnified, and +7 becomes insurance. 

From a matchup standpoint, San Francisco can hang around because it travels with an offense that piled up 5,974 total yards and 49 touchdowns in the regular season.  Seattle’s defense is elite (a league-low 17.2 points allowed per game), but the 49ers have already proven they can win in this building—and they were a strong road team (7–2 away).  After being held to three points in Week 18, expect a sharper response from Kyle Shanahan’s offense. 

The 49ers also arrive battle-tested after a 23–19 Wild Card road win in Philadelphia.  Yes, injuries are real: LB Fred Warner is out and TE George Kittle is on injured reserve, while several other contributors are listed questionable.  But Seattle has its own late-week cloud—QB Sam Darnold is officially questionable with an oblique issue.  Even if Darnold suits up, any limitation narrows Seattle’s margin for error and keeps the backdoor wide open.

Turnovers are the swing factor: both teams finished the regular season in the red in turnover margin (San Francisco -6, Seattle -3).  If the 49ers simply play clean and force punts, the math favors the dog in a familiar, third-time matchup.

Bottom line: with a low total and real uncertainty at quarterback, the 49ers plus the points is the sharper side. Look for San Francisco to shorten the game with the run, steal a couple explosive plays, and keep this within a field goal or six—comfortably inside +7.
