The Knicks and Magic meet tonight at Madison Square Garden in an Eastern Conference matchup where New York looks well-positioned to cover a hypothetical -3.5 spread.

New York enters at 7–3 overall and a perfect 7–0 at home, riding a five-game win streak during a season-long homestand. The market currently lists the Knicks around -4.5, so -3.5 gives them a slightly softer number than what books are dealing. Orlando sits at 5–6 and just 2–3 on the road, leaning heavily on Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner to generate offense.

The real story is New York’s dominance at MSG. The Knicks are 7–0 both straight up and against the spread at home, winning by an average of +17.0 points per game in those contests. They’ve cleared 130 points in three straight games, the first such streak in franchise history, including Tuesday’s 133–120 win over Memphis where Jalen Brunson posted 32 points and 10 assists and Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and 13 boards. Advanced metrics back up the eye test: New York ranks 4th in net rating and 3rd in offensive rating, while Orlando sits just 20th and 19th in those categories, respectively.

Orlando is scrappy, but their path is tougher. The Magic are 5–6 overall, 2–3 on the road, and recently needed a Desmond Bane game-winning three to edge Portland. Banchero has already logged multiple 28-point efforts, including wins at Washington and against Portland, and Wagner has had big nights versus Miami and Boston, so the top-end talent is real. Still, they’re facing an elite Knicks offense while ranking in the league’s bottom half offensively.

Injury-wise, New York has no one currently listed, while Orlando remains without Jamal Cain, Moritz Wagner, and Colin Castleton, thinning their frontcourt depth. That’s a problem against Towns, who is averaging 12.7 rebounds per game and has grabbed at least 11 boards in eight of 10 contests. With Brunson orchestrating, multiple wings who defend and shoot, and a significant edge on the glass, the Knicks’ combination of hot form, home-court dominance, and efficiency makes them strong candidates to clear a -3.5 number tonight.
