Here’s why Milwaukee is positioned to cover the -4.5 tonight.

Milwaukee hosts Chicago in an NBA Cup group game at Fiserv Forum (8:00 p.m. ET). The current ESPN BET line lists Bucks -4.5 (ML -170), with Milwaukee entering 5–3 (3–1 at home) and Chicago 6–1 (1–1 away). ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives the Bucks a 64.5% win probability. 

Availability tilts toward Milwaukee. The NBA’s official 12:30 p.m. ET injury report lists Chicago’s Coby White (right calf strain) and Zach Collins (left scaphoid fracture) OUT, with Ayo Dosunmu QUESTIONABLE (left quad contusion). For the Bucks, Kevin Porter Jr. (right knee meniscus surgery) and Taurean Prince (neck strain) are OUT. Fewer Bulls guards and wings means less on-ball creation and point-of-attack defense against Milwaukee’s size. 

The Bucks’ offensive profile at home is daunting. Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 32.3 points on 67.7% shooting, headlining a unit putting up 119.9 points per game. Leaguewide team leaderboards also have Milwaukee second in field-goal percentage at 50.7%—evidence of high-quality looks and rim pressure that typically travel, but hit even harder at home. Those efficiency edges matter against a Bulls team missing White’s spacing and secondary playmaking. 

Chicago’s start has been excellent, but the current rotation is thin. Josh Giddey (23.1 ppg, 9.1 apg) and Nikola Vučević (19.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg) have driven an offense scoring 120.4 per game—yet removing White (and possibly Dosunmu) compresses the guard minutes and invites Milwaukee to load up in the half court. Add in Chicago’s limited road sample (1–1 away) versus Milwaukee’s 3–1 home mark, and the situational edges lean Bucks. 

There’s also a focused bounce-back angle: Milwaukee is coming off a lopsided defeat at Toronto (128–100), a result that tends to sharpen effort in the next outing—especially returning home for a Cup game. With the Bucks’ top-end efficiency, home-court edge, and Chicago’s guard room compromised, the number is reachable.
