Toronto looks set up to take Game 2 at home this afternoon (first pitch 3:07 p.m. ET, Rogers Centre). The Blue Jays grabbed Friday’s opener 4–2 to stay tied atop the AL East—and they hold the division tiebreaker—behind Jeff Hoffman’s 33rd save and Nathan Lukes’ two-run blast. 

On the mound, it’s RHP Trey Yesavage for Toronto vs. RHP Joe Boyle for Tampa Bay. The clubs list Yesavage at 0–0 with a 5.00 ERA and Boyle at 1–3, 4.40; ESPN’s game page also shows Boyle’s full line (47.0 IP) and Yesavage’s early sample.    In that small sample, Yesavage has shown bat-missing stuff (11 K in 9.0 IP), while Boyle’s command has been spotty (25 BB in 47.0 IP), a profile that can put traffic on for Toronto’s middle order. 

Context and setting further tilt this toward the Jays. Toronto is a robust 52–27 at home, while Tampa Bay is 36–43 away—exactly the split you want backing a home favorite.    Offensively, the matchup (both starters are right-handed) plays into Toronto’s strengths: the Jays own a .760 OPS vs. right-handed pitching this season, and that climbs to .782 at home. They’ve also turned it up after the break (.791 OPS). By contrast, the Rays sit at .735 vs. righties, just .683 on the road, and .702 post-All-Star. 

Add in current form and stakes. Toronto’s victory last night pushed the Jays to 92–68; Tampa Bay sits at 77–83. With the division on the line and Toronto already up 1–0 in the set, urgency aligns with superior situational numbers (home/road and handedness splits) and the more favorable control/whiff profile on today’s starting matchup. 

Bottom line: a home-dominant Blue Jays lineup that hits righties better than Tampa does, in a building where Toronto has excelled, behind a swing-and-miss starter facing a walk-prone counterpart, is precisely the recipe you want to justify Blue Jays moneyline exposure today.
